Warning! Stay Far Away From The Google Brain

10 Comments 12 February 2009

Have you heard anything about Google Brain? Maybe you are thinking about the intelligence of Google or something related. Actually, Google Brain is not a good thing at all, it is very dangerous for human.

Currently, almost every Internet user knows that Google can tell us basically anything, and we can find solutions of any questions by just performing a Google Search. Of course, Google is one of the most powerful web tools in the world, and I think the search engine giant can help everyone to become more professional.

When you have some doubts you would to query, if you go to Google and type something, most likely you’re able to get the correct answers at once! That’s very exciting, and that may be the reason why Google crowns as the most popular website in the world (according to the Alexa Daily Rank).

Of course, you should love Google, because it can helps you a lot. Also, everything is free. But at present, more and more people using the simple interface search engine to find solutions can cause some serious problems instead. Some of the users have Google Brain (the definition of Google Brain is that one cannot leave Google and nearly all the knowledge and experience comes from Google.)

If you have a Google Brain, when you are facing a problem, the first idea appears in your brain will be simply heading to Google rather than flipping books in the library to solve your doubts (although I agree that’s more troublesome and waste quite a lot of precious time). That’s quite dangerous, because Google cannot always tell the truth. Remember, Google is made up of dozens of machines/bots and they cannot replace humans. If Google makes some mistakes, you will make the same mistakes too. That’s the first reason why Google Brains are put us in a disadvantage.

The second reason is that you will give up thinking when you’re solving a problem. For example, if you rely searching on Google, then you don’t need to use your brains (God gives us a useful organ and we must make good use of it) any more, as most of the thing can be found in Google. Remember, you’re human, a normal mind which needs thinking.

Some of you might say that Google is indeed useful and why we cannot use it to solve any problems instead of long-time and difficult thinking? Of course it’s a great tool for us to solve problems, and with Google, we can live very well without much thinking. However, you should know what is the source of Google? The answer is webpages. What is the source of webpages? The answer is thinking – people use Internet to share their thoughts. If we only find solutions and don’t share anything, how can possibily Google index so much contents and prepare for us?

Therefore, Google is a tool, and also Google is only a tool, creating should not stop! What are your first ideas when you are facing difficult problems? Head to Google and type your questions? I hope not.

Interesting point of view; however, there is NO way I am going to go flip through books to find answers. Maybe through Google, I will go through a book, since you are able to query them.

In addition, books aren’t always reliable. There are plenty of errors and typos in numerous books. I currently teach a class on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and the books that I use directly from the Microsoft Academy have misinformation.

I think using Google is a great resource, and I would never give it up.

  2. One of your best posts so far Xavier. Discipline and passion for knowledge are not yet a thing of the past, nor they should be.

This is sort of like the “calculator VS working on paper” debate we went through at high school.

  4. Wow! This is a great point that you bring up. But Google is just like any form of technology; it can harm you or help you, depending on how it’s used. I use google a lot for research, but when it comes to creating original content online, I make sure to use my brain power as well.

    Nice poost!

Hey nice thought, but I totally disagree with some points you brought up in here-how can flipping the pages of rusty old books in library enhance my problem solving/learning skill as compared to googling??I think what matters is getting the right information at right time,”google” can feed your curiosity, but the thing is one shouldn’t let that fire of learning die..no matter what the source of knowledge is.

I decided not to use google long time ago; they focus on profits. Please see: http://www.google-watch.org/ for further info.
    I currently search using: http://clusty.com/
Try that to avoid the google brain when searching.

Indeed, very interesting view point. Google is a technology and should not overpower humans mind.

    Thanks for posting.
