TaxiMe Uses Google Maps to Estimate Your Taxi Fare

1 Comment 15 February 2009

taxiTaxiMe, you can find out so. A simple and easy-to-use tool, TaxiMe makes use of the popular and accurate Google Maps to estimate how much your taxi fare will be, hence you can easily check whether if it’s worthwhile to sit a taxi to work or anywhere else.

Simply punch in your starting and ending points with the specific addresses into the textfield and and hit “Go”. You’ll then be presented the price of the taxi fare based on the using rate for a particular city. Users can even adjust the fare settings such as how much per meters and the starting price. Currently, TaxiMe only supports 30+ cities in the United States and Canada.

According to the website, the folks there have planned to include more cities in their list. Till date, they are supporting well-known cities like Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, New York and Washington.

If you’re outside and want to check the estimated taxi fare, TaxiMe also comes in a Mobile version too. This tool is quite useful however I think they have left out the important peak hour charge or some any other charges (I’m not sure as I’ve never been to either Canada or United States before).
