According to GeckoandFly, the software genius – Bill Gates earns around an astounding US$250 a second. That’s a lot! Imagine you’re sleeping and when you wake up the next day, millions of dollars have been credited into your pockets. For the past few days, I was talking to my friend and also classmate about Bill Gates making so much and wondering if a person could earn $1,000 per second – that’s equivalent to a decent laptop. With this idea in mind, I then decided to create a list of “How Much Does Each 20+ Notable Tech Companies Earns A Second?”. By the way, all the sources such as the description and revenue stats are taken from Wikipedia.

1. Hewlett-Packard (HP) – Earnings Per Second: $3,750.73 Annual Revenue: $118.364 billion

A technology corporation headquartered in Palo Alto, California, United States, HP is the largest technology company in the world and operates in nearly every country. It’s an expert in Computer Systems, Computer Peripherals, Computer Software, Consulting and IT Services.

2. Samsung Electronics – Earnings Per Second: $5,520.06 Annual Revenue: $103.4 billion

Samsung Electronics is the world’s largest electronics company, headquartered in Seocho Samsung Town in Seoul, South Korea. It is the largest South Korean company and the flagship subsidiary of the Samsung Group. Samsung Electronics is the global market leader in more than 60 products, including Semiconductors, Digital Displays, Home Electronics, Mobile Devices, Computing Products and Home Appliances.

3. Sony Corporation – Earnings Per Second: $3,168.81 Annual Revenue: $100 billion

Based in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, Sony is one of the world’s largest media conglomerates with revenue exceeding US$99.1 billion (as of 2008). It is one of the leading manufacturers of electronics, video, communications, video game consoles, and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets.

4. Panasonic Corporation – Earnings Per Second: $2,870.94 Annual Revenue: $90.6 billion

Panasonic Corporation, formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., is a multinational corporation based in Kadoma, Japan. Its main business is in electronics manufacturing and produces products under a variety of names including Panasonic and Technics.

5. Toshiba Corporation – Earnings Per Second: $2,429.84 Annual Revenue: $76.68 billion

Toshiba Corporation is a multinational conglomerate manufacturing company, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company’s main business is in Infrastructure, Consumer Products, and Electronic devices and components. Toshiba-made Semiconductors are among the Worldwide Top 20 Semiconductor Sales Leaders. Toshiba is the world’s fifth largest personal computer manufacturer, after Hewlett-Packard and Dell of the U.S., Acer of Taiwan and Lenovo of China and US.

6. LG Electronics – Earnings Per Second: $2,180.14 Annual Revenue: $68.8 billion

LG Electronics is the world’s second-biggest maker of televisions and third-biggest maker of mobile phones. With its headquarters in the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea, LG Electronics is the flagship company of LG Group, one of the world’s largest conglomerates.

7. Nokia – Earnings Per Second: $2,074.14 Annual Revenue: $65.455 billion

Nokia Corporation is a Finnish multinational communications corporation, headquartered in Keilaniemi, Espoo, a city neighbouring Finland’s capital Helsinki. Nokia is focused on wireless and wired telecommunications, with 128,445 employees in 120 countries, sales in more than 150 countries and global annual revenue of 50.7 billion euros and operating profit of 5.0 billion as of 2008.

Dell, Inc. is a multinational technology corporation that develops, manufactures, sells, and supports personal computers and other computer-related products. Based in Round Rock, Texas, Dell employs more than 82,700 people worldwide.

9. Microsoft – Earnings Per Second: $1,914.59 Annual Revenue: $60.42 billion

Microsoft Corporation is a multinational computer technology corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, USA, its best selling products are the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.

10. IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) – Earnings Per Second: $1,866.43 Annual Revenue: $58.9. billion

IBM and nicknamed “Big Blue” (for its official corporate color), is a computer technology and consulting corporation headquartered in Armonk, New York, United States. The company is one of the few information technology companies with a continuous history dating back to the 19th century. IBM manufactures and sells computer hardware and software, and offers infrastructure services, hosting services, and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology.

11. Cisco Systems – Earnings Per Second: $1,252.95 Annual Revenue: $39.54 billion

Cisco Systems, Inc. is a notable company with more than 66,000 employees and annual revenue of US$39 billion as of 2008. Headquartered in San Jose, California, it designs and sells networking and communications technology and services.

12. Intel – Earnings Per Second: $1,191.47 Annual Revenue: $37.6 billion

Intel Corporation is the world’s largest semiconductor company and the inventor of the x86 series of microprocessors, the processors found in most personal computers. Intel was founded on July 18, 1968 as Integrated Electronics Corporation and based in Santa Clara, California, USA. Intel also makes motherboard chipsets, network cards and ICs, flash memory, graphic chips, embedded processors, and other devices related to communications and computing.

13. Motorola - Earnings Per Second: $1,160.48 Annual Revenue: $36.622 billion

Motorola Inc. is a manufacturer of wireless telephone handsets, also designing and selling wireless network infrastructure equipment such as cellular transmission base stations and signal amplifiers. 16. Oracle Corporation – Earnings Per Second: $710.76 Annual Revenue: $22.43 billion

Oracle Corporation specializes in developing and marketing enterprise software products — particularly database management systems. Through organic growth and a number of high-profile acquisitions, Oracle enlarged its share of the software market. By 2007 Oracle ranked third on the list of largest software companies in the world, after Microsoft and IBM. Subsequently it became larger than IBM after its acquisition of Hyperion and BEA.

Amazon.com, Inc. is an American electronic commerce (e-commerce) company in Seattle, Washington. It is America’s largest online retailer, with nearly three times the internet sales revenue of runner up Staples, Inc. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com, Inc. in 1994 and launched it online in 1995. It started as an on-line bookstore but soon diversified to product lines of VHS, DVD, music CDs and MP3s, computer software, video games, electronics, apparel, furniture, food, toys, etc.

19. Acer Inc. – Earnings Per Second: $602.07 Annual Revenue: $19 billion

Electronic Arts (EA) is an international developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games. Established in 1982 by Trip Hawkins, the company was a pioneer of the early home computer games industry and was notable for promoting the designers and programmers responsible for its games. Originally, EA was a home computing game publisher.

26. Adobe Systems – Earnings Per Second: $100.07 Annual Revenue: $3.158 billion

Adobe Systems Incorporated is an American computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. The company has historically focused upon the creation of multimedia and creativity software products, with a more-recent foray into rich Internet application software development.

27. Activision Blizzard – Earnings Per Second: $91.83 Annual Revenue: $2.898 billion

Activision Blizzard, Inc. is a French-owned, America-based video game developer and publisher, partially owned by conglomerate Vivendi SA. The company is the result of a merger between Activision and Vivendi Games, announced on December 2, 2007 in a deal worth USD$18.8 billion. The deal closed July 9, 2008.
