Well, I’m not very sure whether Windows Live messenger is popular among young kids in the United States of America or any parts of the world but as for Singaporean teenagers, we seriously can’t live without it. Everyday, we would use the world’s most popular IM to chat with our friends after school to either discuss about school homework or share our thoughts and opinions on some random topics. Despite being an MSN addict, I must admit that I seriously don’t know what is MSN Web Messenger all about. I’ve heard it before but haven’t try it out yet. And now the latest news from the Windows Live team said that it’ll be retiring soon on June 30 2009.

With the new Windows Live Hotmail Web-based IM which was launched on April 20 this year now available worldwide, the folks at Microsoft have planned to scrape away its MSN Web Messenger by the end of this month, which is just 3 days later. The new Hotmail Web-based feature allows users to IM their Windows Live Messenger contacts from within their Hotmail inbox or People page without having to switch over to the Messenger client. Therefore, you can read your emails while chatting with your friends. Besides that, you’re able to have instant messaging capabilities when you used a shared computer and without having the need to download the desktop client.

When it was first announced, it was only available to certain locations such as Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the US, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the UK. This time I’ll definitely make the switch from MSN desktop client to Hotmail Web-based IM without any hesitation! Give it a try too! I’m sure you will love it too!

With it built directly into the email client this was destined to happen. I don't think the web messenger of MSN was very popular anyway. I use MSN Live Messenger all the time, but I've never really touched the web messenger.
Well, I didn't even know what is MSN Web Messenger all about too.
Meh, I think I'll stick with the normal MSN messenger that you download
I think they tried copying Google with this one
