TwiXtreme – The Sweetest Twitter Client for Blackberry?
Posted on August 28, 2009 | No Comments
UberTwitter is currently the most popular Twitter client for Blackberry and accounts for 1.26 per cent of Twitter users, beating arch rival TwitterBerry's 0.93 per cent penetration. Will the folks behind TwiXtreme, the latest Twitter client for Blackberry phones in town, taste the sweet success too? Based in Toronto, Canada, TwiXtreme is a newly-launched Twitter client developed by the developers at Xtreme Labs.
Just like any other Twitter clients for Blackberry devices, TwiXtreme offers basic micro-blogging functionalities and features such as publishing tweets, re-tweets, reading replies and direct messages. However, what makes the app stands up is that it enables users to upload pictures, keep up with the latest trends and tweet their hearts out with an impressive interface which don't 'suck' at all! It's free to use and no irritating ads cluttering your Blackberry while tweeting! Groovy...

A 14-Year-Old’s View Of Gaming
Posted on August 27, 2009 | No Comments
Let me start by saying this:
I am 14 and I am a hardcore gamer
Just by saying that, I am sure some of you will think I am the stereotype gamer- One who sits on his couch all day, eating chips and growing fat, and screaming vulgarities in to the television. Racist, and simply retarded.
That was never the case.
Based on a study by the entertainment software agency, the average age of gamers is not 17 but 33. They are born around the same time video games really boomed. That's how gaming started. What's more is that a quarter of all gamers are over 50 years old. Shocking, eh?

Higher Education Students Say Twitter Might Contritube to Poor Writing Skills
Posted on August 26, 2009 | No Comments
Just like what Brad has mentioned in his previous post about Twitter being a Web 2.0 version of RSS feeds, most teenagers have a negative perceptions towards the world's most popular micro-blogging platform. These teenagers make up only 8% of the entire population on Twitterverse despite their active presence on social websites such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube. For an in-depth view of why teenagers nowadays "shoo" away from the micro-blogging service, check it out here.
According to a recent study by Faculty Focus, the folks there have found out that nearly one-third (30.7 percent) of the 1,958 respondents (college faculty) say they use Twitter in some capacity. More than half, (56.4 percent) say they've never used Twitter. I was utterly shocked by the main reason why college faculty dislike Twitter. Here's why - they don't see the relevance to education and that they think micro-blogging might contribute to poor writing skills. Other factors include the inability to understand how to use Twitter (even though it's much simpler than Facebook in terms of features) and that they don't have time to use it.

How to Create Full HTML Tweets, with Colors, Images & Videos?
Posted on August 26, 2009 | No Comments
Sometimes 140 characters aren't enough for some of us. Developed by a German developer Wahid Rahim, RichTweets is a newly-launched Twitter app which helps users enhance their tweet by making them look more attractive. What's more is that with this site, you can tweet without enforcing the 140 character limit. This simple but impressive site enables users to create full HTML updates, with colors, images, videos and even widgets. Sounds really cool right?
To start, simply log in via Twitter Oauth, without the need to punch in your Twitter credentials. Next, you can starting create a tweet by providing a title. What I like about RichTweets is that it offers a WYSIWYG editor which is filled by many useful features such as different styles and fonts of text, ability to add colors and highlighting tweets. Besides these, users can include tags related to the topic or category of the update. Want your followers on Twitter to view your tweet accompanied with a video? No worries. Simply grab the embed code from a video sharing platform (YouTube) and paste it into the text field provided.

Is Twitter the Web 2.0 Version of RSS Feeds?
Posted on August 25, 2009 | No Comments
I remembered one of my friends telling me this - "What's the big deal of Twitter? Who would really bother about the fact that you're picking your nose in front of the computer? It's just useless". You can't blame him because most teenagers out there have negative perceptions towards Twitter too. However, there's a hidden fact that most people (especially non-Twitter users) aren't aware of.
Besides being a micro-blogging platform which enables users to share their personal lives, thoughts and opinions of a particular issue in less than 140 characters, Twitter has actually emerged from a "What are you doing?" website to an epicenter of world events whereby every user on the Twitterverse becomes a journalist, breaking news in real-time which claims to be much faster and probably even more accurate than the traditional media. Even though every one turns into a web journalist, but it still requires a large community to break the news simultaneously in order for the information to reach the other part of the world.
