If you own a Mac, or have even heard seen a Mac in action, you’ll know about Spaces.
Spaces is a useful tool to organise your desktop into several different ‘Spaces’.
For example, you could have one for your iTunes, so as not to take up spaces on one single desktop. Another for your work (i.e Pages/Keynote open), another for Twitter (have TweetDeck or something open) and another for General.

That’s basically my setup, but you can have lots of different ones, and they all heavily impact your workflow.
But you may think Spaces is a little too feature-light, not customisable enough, not up-to-par with the rest of the Mac’s eye-candy.
Hyperspaces!
Hyperspaces is a brilliant little app that lets you customize your Spaces in almost every way imaginable.

From Core Animation, Labels, seperate wallpapers for each Space, Hotkeys, Transitions, Desktop Icon hiding, and Growl integration. This app has it all. You can set individual hotkeys for the differe Spaces, a hotkey for the Switcher, or for Forward/Backward. It’s simple now, to simply setup a Space for iTunes running in FullScreen beauty, and just press CMD+4 to quickly switch to it.
Its developer is working on having individual docks for each spaces, although he has said that it’s not going to be easy, especially for 10.6 users. 10.6 doesn’t like what has to be done, to get it working. You can set a different wallpaper for each Space. I set a simple, unobtrusive one for my Work Space, so that I’m not distracted, whereas I have an artistic one for my General Space. You can also change the transition speed, and if you have the dock icon enabled, set it to show Spaces when clicked; or do nothing. Of course you can hide the dock icon if you want to. You can also have a label under/above the dock to let you know which Space you’re in. You can change the font, colour etc, but it’s great as it is at default.

The Icon is beautiful, and was made by Sebastian de With. Once again, he’s done brilliant work on the icon!
It’s currently in 1.0b9, and there is no confirmation of a new release as of yet. It’s $15, and I highly recommend you buy this app, as it has huge potential, and is already a hugely rewarding app.

Great review, Matt!
Great find! I always find the 'Space' feature in Mac alittle lacking, as I cannot really personalized it the way I would like.
