Don’t Say Chrome OS Sucks!

I have been reading a ton on Chrome OS.

It seems to me that no one at all likes Chrome OS,  well I do. It may not be something I would use, but it’s new.

At first people didn’t like Twittter, just because it was something new and different. Well that’s what Chrome is. It is new and different. No company has ever made a OS based on the cloud. Cloud computing is where all of your data is stored off site.

This first run at Chrome OS won’t come close to beating Snow Leopard or Windows 7. It isn’t that good. Rather, Chrome OS brings this new idea to the table, cloud computing.

Microsoft and Apple better become nervous, Google will do something more with this cloud computing idea. Chrome OS will not be used by many, but it opens up a lot of opportunities for Google to keep building.

Up with the “this article I written ..” it's so pointless and looks weird.

I have seen much of this, as well. Almost every Chrome OS article or mention of it in forums brings an onslaught of hateful comments. And there not even backed up with reasonable ideas!

Maybe people are just afraid of new things, like the Twitter example you mentioned?

I dunno, but if they don't like Chrome OS, then they should either have a real reason or just keep their mouths shut. As for me, I'm excited about this turn in computer history.

    Nice post, Jake.
I agree that cloud computing will become more prevalent as computing advances and the Chrome OS is one way of capitalizing on this concept. However, it isn't necessarily something Microsoft and Apple ought to be nervous about.

I can't speak for Apple, but Microsoft is already embracing the concept of cloud computing with their upcoming Office Web Apps (http://bit.ly/OfficeWebApps) and the Windows Azure Platform (http://bit.ly/WindowsAzurePlatform). Of course, this is the web space – not the PC OS space. We can leave discussing the value of running some apps locally and some in the cloud for later, but Microsoft is definitely in the game.

(I am contracted by M80, working with Microsoft to promote Windows Azure)

Compare it to EyeOS, a similar cloud OS.
It's extremely lacking and NOT original.

I don't agree with you considering the present state of Chrome OS. There are lots of cloud computing apps available. Here Google has a low version of ubuntu beneath it with a browser on top. Its not good for any serious use. It lacks direct saving and manipulation of files to the local system. We will become so depend on network and google server. Its not a pleasant news in this era of open source, where we get lots of freedom. At the same time google making us more dependent to them. No company in the world ever can stand for ever. Google already have lots of our personal informations.. check other cloud computing solutions available too….

its chrome with shitty file managing, build on a simple linux kernel.

    no wonder people dislike it.
Liking it only shows how little you know about IT.

Tried it. It sucks. The Cloud is the Future Failure of computing. At least I HOPE it is. There’s not a single benefit to all this cloud crap. I hope it all fails and dies.

    i still think twitter sucks…but I digress.

I’ve tried Chrome OS via virtual on Parallels for Mac and it appears to be a train wreck…maybe you are having better luck on your testing system…

And I don’t think it had a purpose at all for standard hardware…maybe a proprietary setup could find a use.

I love Win7, OSX and Ubuntu…I’m not sure where this fits in…yes a dumb system for my parents would be great…but then I bought them a ipad for $500 and solves all their needs in a cloud type dumb system way….
