The Emotiv Epoc Uses Your Brain To Control Games (No Kidding!)
Posted on December 26, 2009 | No Comments
If Microsoft is ambitious with Project Natal (motion tracking camera to control games), I don't know what can Emotiv be called. Their new product, the Epoc, reads your brain and tells the computer what are you thinking. It costs $299 and is shipping now. Read on for thoughts and a video about this product. I understand what it could do- like really use your head to levitate objects with the force in Star Wars games, but I certainly do not want games to start my mind.
Personally, I enjoy games because they force you to make though decisions. To shoot the civilians in Modern Warfare 2? To choose Revenge or Money in Grand Theft Auto 4? To choose your loyalties? To shoot a friend and a betrayer? I don't want to make the choice mentally. I want to see if I can actually hold down the trigger.

HTC Droid Eris Review: Is it an iPhone Killer?
Posted on December 26, 2009 | No Comments
Santa was so gracious enough to bring me a HTC Droid Eris. I have been wanting to check out Android for so long now, and I finally get my chance.
I have been reading online for months now that Android is an iPhone killer, well hell yeah it is. I would really love someone to argue with me, because your not going to win. The HTC Droid Eris can do everything the iPhone can do, but better.
Right from the start up, I could tell Android was really trying to push me into becoming social. When I was setting up my phone, I was encouraged to enter in my Twitter, Facebook, and Flickr account. The Flickr account is used for the camera album. I can easily upload pictures to share with my friends and family. The Twitter account is for one of the Sense UI panes. The Facebook account is integrated to let me give out my contact information and of course, browse it.

HOW-TO: Automatically Lock and Unlock your Mac using your iPhone or iPod Touch
Posted on December 25, 2009 | No Comments
Have you ever left your Macbook on your desk and walked away forgetting to put some sort of screen lock in place? There are quite a number of solutions out there that helps to lock the screen periodically. However, none of them are as useful as Airlock, touted as "your Mac's new Chief of Security". AirLock is a preference pane for Mac that automatically locks your Mac when you leave, and unlocks it using your iPhone or iPod Touch when you come back. It works something like those cars equipped with an intelligent system that automatically unlocks the car doors, and allows the engine to be started once the key is brought inside the car when it senses that the correct key is nearby.

Apple Employee: “You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.”
Posted on December 24, 2009 | No Comments
Apparently, rumors claiming that the California-based tech giant is gearing up to launch the tablet seem to be true. A current senior employee inside Apple has confirmed the imminent launch of the new Apple Tablet and said that Steve Jobs is happy with the product, according to Nick Bilton from the New York Times. "I can’t really say anything, but, let’s just say Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet." And another another recently departed Apple employee hinted: “You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.”
It is speculated that Apple will demo the tablet weeks later at an event held in January. A plugged-in source in the mobile industry has told Silicon Alley Insider that "Apple will show off the tablet in January, and have asked selected iPhone devs to prepare high-res apps for the occasion."

bt.gd Launches Today: Can it Beat Bit.ly?
Posted on December 24, 2009 | No Comments
Jeff Weisbein, owner of BestTechie Holdings Inc, rolled out his new URL shortener today, called bt.gd. It easily beats any other URL shortening service.
Using it personally for months, Jeff decided to hire Michael Morris to help him in the project, to make it available to everyone. The cool thing about bt.gd is that it is so in depth. If you want to look at stats, it presents you with a pie chart and what countries clicked your link. There is no need to create a user profile. You can simply log in with your Facebook profile. Bt.gd offers some great sharing features. Allowing you to make your own sub domain and use RSS feeds.

Is Verizon Doomed like AT&T?
Posted on December 23, 2009 | No Comments
With the release of the Droid, Verizon is now a place to consider buying a phone. Although, Verizon has the best network, they didn't have a good exclusive phone. Since the Droid has an application market to compete with the iPhone's, will Verizon's amazing network fall to mediocre?

Blackberry Email Outage
Posted on December 23, 2009 | No Comments
Yesterday, for the second time this week RIM's (Research in Motion) email servers had gone down, thus taking Blackberry's with it.
It is not like Tmobile's recent outage where every user lost their data. Blackberry users just can't access their Blackberry email account, whyI don't trust. I like using Gmail on my Blackberry Pearl because I trust Google. I don't trust these big phone companies. I also don't like the fact that it is very hard to access your email on your computer. I just feel really bad for the business man who needed to send an email on the subway this morning. I am sure a patch will be out soon, just like on December 17th when the first outage occured.
