iPad UI is on the iPhone and iPod Touch
Posted on January 31, 2010 | No Comments
RedmondPie.com found out how to turn your iPod touch and iPhone into an iPad with a could of applications. It really makes it like the iPad, without the 10 inch screen (obviously). I really like the iPad's UI, so I tried it out myself. This requires you to jailbreak your device.

Startpage Launches Anonymous Web Browsing Service
Posted on January 31, 2010 | No Comments
I was flabbergasted when I heard that London-based search engine Startpage has launched a rather unique web search service that only a few have don't it before -- anonymous web browsing. It works similar to Firefox's Private Browsing mode but the only difference is that the latter prevents information from being recorded on your computer and it doesn't make you anonymous on the Internet. This is when the new proxy service brings online browsing to the next level.
Touted as "the world's most private search engine", it uses its Ixquick proxy server to allow users concerned about privacy to carry out web searches and click on linked pages without revealing their identify. For example, IP addresses and information stored in cookies will be invisible to the web administrator. When you select a search result on Google or Yahoo!, the site being visited could see your information. Startpage has reportedly solved that problem by introducing a proxy feature that gives users the ability to surf the web anonymously.

How We Teens Scale TechXav, A Blog That Started Off Without Any Money
Posted on January 31, 2010 | No Comments
Having a passion in social media and technology, Xavier started KidTechGuru.blogspot.com in June 2008 without any capital or experience. As the number of users began to grow at an exponential rate, he decided to make the switch to a self-hosted blog in February 2009. Today TechXav is one of the world's most popular technology blogs ever contributed by a group of zealous teenagers. Based in Singapore and the United States, TechXav now has about ten writers and the number is growing. We wouldn't be able to achieve our amazing feat without the support of our avid readers, followers on Twitter, and of course our sponsors -- SmartBloggerz, Web Hosting Secret Revealed, TweetsBot, etc.
We write the articles all by ourselves, including the coding the web design, setting up our web host, developing Xav.tc (TechXav's URL shortener), and even marketing our brand. As our pockets are rather shallow, we have to think twice before making a decision, especially when it comes to premium web hosting, subscriptions and services. Meanwhile, we also have to maintain a good scalability to provide an excellent user experience for our readers. Here are some of the methods we have embraced to make TechXav load faster, and we are still trying our best to improve it further.

Adobe Is Mad At iPad’s Lack Of Flash Support
Posted on January 30, 2010 | No Comments
An Adobe employee, named Lee Brimelow, owns an unofficial Flash blog. Brimelow made a pretty creative image showing what the web will be like without Flash support. Adobe didn't like his first post.
The image doesn't show any nudity, but might be offensive to some. Click here if you aren't offended by much. (Contains an adult website, again no nudity)
Adobe told Brimelow they weren't making any strides to go against Apple, and at least take down the adult website image

Hitler Hates The iPad Too [VIDEO]
Posted on January 30, 2010 | No Comments
Personally, I believe that Apple just made a boo-boo. Firstly, what kind of name is 'iPad'!!!. It's not catchy, it's boring, it reminds me of a woman's cosmetic store and a toddler misspelling iPod!

How to Tether on Android
Posted on January 30, 2010 | No Comments
If you have read my posts before you have probably noticed how I always rave about Android's application market. This thing really dominates. I found a cool application today called "PDA Net". PDA Net allows you to tether on your Android phone.
PDA Net offers a free and paid version. The free version doesn't allow you to visit sites with a https:// address. So really, if you are not logged in to your Youtube, for instance, you will not be able to log in while on PDA Net. You should keep signed in before you board the plane or leave the house just so you won't run into problems. The paid version lets you browse the net without any limitations.
PDA Net is really simple to install. It requires you to install an application on your Android phone (find on the market place) and one on your computer. It will ask you to go into your phone's settings to check a box off, having to do with USB Defragging. After that you will connect your phone, open the Android application and you will be connected to the internet.

Google Ends Support with IE6
Posted on January 30, 2010 | No Comments
Two weeks ago, Google was hacked by the Chinese government. Gmail accounts were accessed through Internet Explorer 6. Internet Explorer 6 is a very old web browser (2001), from Microsoft. China found a way through IE6 and hacked companies like Google and Adobe.
Google slapped Microsoft in the face by taking away any Google website support in Internet Explorer 6. An IE6 user cannot access the main Google site, Google Docs, and their other services.
Google was VERY smart. There is nothing safe about an old web browser. People will find obvious flaws in an old, unpatched, applications. I don't even know why Microsoft hasn't discontinued the old browser. Many companies will follow Google. If you are still on IE6, I really suggest downloading a browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, to be safer on the web.

iPad: My Thoughts
Posted on January 29, 2010 | No Comments
Apple on Wednesday released a giant iPhone called iPad, named after a feminine hygiene product. No, in all seriousness, this device is impressive. For the last 2 months people were almost definite that the iPad would be named "iSlate" because Apple bought the domain "islate.com". Turns out, Apple didn't even have "ipad.com", kind of makes me laugh. I am still on the fence about the iPad. I cannot decide if it is a device I would want to buy. It just doesn't seem geeky enough. But then again, Apple is a mass market company, not only trying to appeal to the geeks. The device would be handy to have on an airplane or be sitting in a coffee shop with. But would I spend $400.00 on something that I already have, an iPod touch? I don't think so.
