Best Buy Devour Pre-Sale is Up; Will You Be Buying One?

The Motorola Devour is the next Android phone coming to Verizon. It isn't a Droid competitor but an alternative. The Droid beats the Devour in screen size, speed, and the operating system. Best Buy kicked off its Devour pre-sale earlier this week.
Usually phones are sold with a rebate, you pay some extra money, they give it back to you later. Best Buy has not setup a rebate system with the Devour. The way Best Buy will be doing things is with a gift card. If you signed up for the pre-sale you are required to buy a $50.00 gift card (hopefully spendable) that will hold your spot in line, what a new way of doing things.
Will you be buying a Devour? We will have to wait until the 25th to see the price point, hopefully something to compete with the HTC Droid Eris price point of $100.00.

HBO Releases Go

HBO is my favorite television channel. Although HBO isn't free, it always has great movies and TV shows playing. Today HBO released Go, and it works a lot like Netflix. HBO subscribers are offered this free service which allows you to stream movies and TV right to your computer. But will this kill Netflix?
Having HBO on my television, I can watch movies on demand. HBO's On Demand catalog isn't the best. If HBO tries to do something like this with the computer streaming model, it will fail. Netflix offers a VERY large category of streaming movies. From what I can see, the service has a huge list and from what I have read on the internet it will have movies a lot faster then Netflix's Instant Streaming service.

With the recent release of Avatar, 3D has blown up. In the last year Youtube has added 3D features, so why not try them. Well, you probably didn't have the equipment. Ron and Amy Jo Proctor at Weber State Universe 3D put together a simple rig to allow you to shoot your own 3D movies, for the low cost of $250.00. The material list is small.

A warez site allows you to download anything, from movies, games, and television shows. But don't think about owning one, or your house will be raided by the police.
Filmowisko hosted 30,000 members, but didn't actually host any of the files containing illegal material. Warez websites use services like Rapidshare and Megaupload and just link people to the files. Filmowisko, a warez site, was ran by a 21 technology student, a 16, and a 17 year old

Skype Coming to Verizon

For a couple of days now the MWC (Mobile World Congress) we have heard major stories regarding mobile phones. One of the major announcements included Verizon to allow 3G calling with Skype in March, something AT&T has had for months.
Any user with a smart phone and a data plan can use this service. You might be thinking, "why would I use this if I already have a calling plan"?

Samsung is making a Chrome OS Netbook

Phil Newton, of Samsung, recently stated that a 10-inch Chrome OS netbook is on its way, later this year. You're probably thinking, these specs are awful for a computer. For a Windows netbook, yes they are, but for Chrome OS the specs will work fine. Chrome OS is for speed. It is an OS that runs in a browser that allows you to connect with the cloud. Since it is a browser the specs listed above, will be really fast, for a cheap price.
