Are You Obsessed With Your Cell Phone? [INFOGRAPHIC]

A decade ago, cell phone was an luxury that only the rich can afford. But today it has evolved to a necessity in our lives. Almost every citizen in a developed country like Singapore, United States and United Kingdom do own a mobile device, and now the trend is skewed towards to the smartphone market -- Apple's iPhone, Google's Android and Nokia's Symbian. Cell phones are no longer an ugly brick-like structure that weighed a ton, and have changed the way we live and work. No matter the location, whatever the time, we have grown accustom to constant available content. The folks over at cellphones.org have put together some really astounding numbers into an attractive infographic encircling the topic on how obsessed we are with our cell phones.

iPad To Do Phone Calls? [VIDEO]

A small piece of interesting information has been given off by the iPad SDK. Previously the iPhone 3.2 SDK was rumored that the iPhone and iPad might have a “video chat function“. And now it seems like the iPad has the “ability” to make emergency calls. The guys over at Gumball Tech have enabled a passcode lock on the SDK by entering incorrect passwords for 5 times. This enabled the emergency call function to be activated, as shown in the image above. It’s still unclear why Apple has included the emergency call function in the iPad SDK. It might not be seen in the real iPad though. It could have to do with the FCC regulations that wireless devices, such as the iPad, must be able to make emergency calls.

AT&T Phone Featuring Google’s Android Will Use Yahoo As Default Search Engine

In a shocking move, AT&T's new Motorola Backflip, which runs on Google's Android OS, will feature Yahoo as the smartphone's default search provider instead of Google. This is the first time I've heard of a Google Android handset not using the Google Search by itself. Yahoo will be set up to handle mobile Internet searches, though users can still choose Google if they desire to. David Katz, a vice president at Yahoo, said in an e-mailed statement, "We have a long-standing relationship with AT&T and more than 80 carrier partnerships around the world for our award- winning mobile-search experience. Mobile search continues to be a focus for investment and innovation." Meanwhile, Google declined to comment on the Backflip, saying "This is not a Google-branded product and, therefore, product inquiries should be directed to AT&T and Motorola."

New Rumor: All U.S. Android Phones Getting 2.1. ALL Of Them.

Huzzah! While there's no real confirmation that your old and rusty T-Mobile G1 will make the cut to Android 2.1, there's lots of hope it will. According to AndroidandMe, all I repeat all, US Android phones would get version 2.1. Although some of the updated phones would be much like the Droid's upcoming update -- snazzy stuff like the live wallpapers and 3D app menu won't make the cut, but you'll still get all the awesome widgets and baseline features of Eclair. And to cut back on install failures, one of the rumored forms of upgrading your phone would be via a PC, which would ensure a safe and complete install. Because this would be done on such a large scale, a sacrifice must be made: some phones will require an entire wipe. All of it. Your phone would be re-born again and you'd have to teach it all of your tricks (and stuff all of your junk) back into it.

What Comes After the iPad

First it was the iPhone, then the ipad, so what's next? Gizmodo posted several hilarious images of Steve Jobs showing off his next products. Pretty spot on, don't you think so?

Why The iPad Is Not Going To Revolutionize Web Browsing

Apple products may be overpriced, but you got to admit that they are the absolute best at marketing - from the Stevenotes to the zen-like simplicity. Their marketing team makes any Apple product seems like a dream. Just look at the PC vs Mac Ads. You will notice the funnier actor (John Hodgeman AKA PC) does all the acting, while the Mac just sits there and makes fun of PC's problems. I use a Macbook, own a iPod touch, and come from perhaps the most Apple-obsessed school in the world. I should think the iPad is awesome. However, it is simply an upsized version of the iPod touch - nothing more. I probably would have prefer a Netbook that supports flash and runs on a proper OS. I love my iPod touch, but to use it to surf the web is like trying to make a sandwich with my feet. It's possible, but not very fun. I hate clicking on buttons accidentally when I am scrolling. If you think the iPad is gonna perform like a keyboard and mouse, you are in for a shock. Mobile sites? It's a tablet - it should not use a condensed version of the full webpage. Yet, I have a feeling that Facebook will get another dedicated multitouch webpage - not the actual Facebook.com we use on our computers.

Video Chat to come to Apple Mobile Devices?

For the last couple of days word has been spreading around of Video chat to come to Apple's mobile arsenal, including the iPad and iPhone, something they are both missing. The devloper kit you can download, to develop applications, had code that revealed an "Accept Video" and a "Decline Video" button. There is also reference to the OSX application iChat.

HTC Desire: The Nexus One on Steroids

The Nexus One was the best Android phone yet, but now there is something way better. The greatest thing about the Nexus One is the speed. The Nexus One runs a 1GHZ Snapdragon processor, the fastest processor in a phone to date. What happens when you mix the Android 2.1, HTC Sense UI, and the 1GHZ Snapdragon processor in one? The HTC Desire.
