Samsung is making a Chrome OS Netbook
Posted on February 15, 2010 | No Comments
Phil Newton, of Samsung, recently stated that a 10-inch Chrome OS netbook is on its way, later this year. You're probably thinking, these specs are awful for a computer. For a Windows netbook, yes they are, but for Chrome OS the specs will work fine. Chrome OS is for speed. It is an OS that runs in a browser that allows you to connect with the cloud. Since it is a browser the specs listed above, will be really fast, for a cheap price.

Google Acquires Aardvark
Posted on February 13, 2010 | No Comments
Wow, Google has had a really busy week. They have released Buzz, have had a Nexus One and Droid update, are now an ISP, deleted Blogger accounts, and acquired Aardvark. Aaardvark is an awesome social media service that allows you to ask a question and an expert will answer. In December I heard, on Net@Night, that Google was in talks with Aardvark to buy them for $50 million. Yesterday, TechCrunch reported that Google and Aardvark finally made the deal.

Google Deletes Blogger Blogs, Twitter Goes Into a Frenzy #musicblogocide2010
Posted on February 12, 2010 | No Comments
Google's service Blogger is a great way to host your own blog for free. Many music fiends used Blogger to talk about music and share it with the world. Today Google has taken down a ton of music blogs hosted with Blogger. Google says they were forced by the DMCA Act. Many people have taken their opinion to Twitter with the hastag #musicblogocide2010.
Google took down all of these blogs down with out any notice. Also, they deleted all of the archives of these blogs. The blog I Rock Clevland was one of the blogs shut down. Two years of blogging, now gone. I Rock Clevland claims all of the MP3s uploaded were legal.Google's service Blogger is a great way to host your own blog for free. We have seen dozens of sites compiling funny Google Suggestions and you might wonder why are there people who would search nonsensical stuff on the search engine. Here's a video clip created by PeteInABox, which features hilarious suggestions given by Google when you type in a phrase. My personal favorite is "steve jobs is your new bicycle". Check out for more funny ones in the video after the break.

Google Refuses To Comply With Australia’s Internet Censorship Regulations
Posted on February 11, 2010 | No Comments
When Google announced in Jan 16th this year that it stopped censoring search results for Google.cn, it sparked off huge controversy over China's stringent internet censorship, which has indirectly made the growing rift between China and the United States more prominent. And now Google says it won’t voluntarily comply with Australia's internet censorship regulations, according to a report published by The Age.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said this week that he wants the search engine juggernaut to impose a censorship on certain YouTube videos that contain “refused classification” material as the Internet company has taken similar action on China and Thailand.

Google is an ISP “Think Big with a Gig”
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No Comments
Google has had a very busy week. Yesterday Google released their new social service called Buzz, and today announced they will now be an internet service provider. The speeds that Google is unleashing are just amazing.
We all know Google is always pushing to have the best and fastest services (Chrome and searches), but did you ever think they would be hosting your internet? Today, on Google's official blog, they wrote about how they are going to try to push out a 1 gigabit per second connection to 50,000-500,00 people.

Goojje Shuts Down After Being Targeted By Hackers, Google’s Threat Not The Main Reason
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No Comments
On January 12th, Google said in a blog post that it had stop censoring search results for Google.cn and may pull out of mainland China if both the search engine juggernaut and the Chinese authorities fail to come to an agreement. Soon after the news broke out, a group of about eight people around the country have developed a spoof of Google.cn called Goojje. In response to that, Google has sent a warning to the Chinese Google knockoff to stop using their logo. The U.S. search engine giant claimed that the Goojje logo is infringing on its trademark since the logo could be mistaken as an authorized Google web site.
Today, Goojje put up a notice saying that it has ceased its operations and thanked the fans who have been supporting the site for the past month. Apparently, the team claimed that the main reason behind the closure of the site was because Goojje had been targeted by hackers for nearly five consecutive days, and no word about Google's threat to sue was mentioned in the post. No hints about who the hackers were and the intention behind it made me feel rather dubious.
