4 Interesting Comics About The iPad
Posted on February 3, 2010 | No Comments
Ever since the launch of the Apple's new product -- the iPad, both Nitrozac and Snaggy from The Joy of Tech have been working on quite a number of interesting and funny comics about the tablet, which has received mixed responses from the public. The iPad has several drawbacks that disappoint Apple fanboys and fangirls. For example, it doesn't have a camera, lack of Flash support, no multitasking (which means that you can't listen to Lady Gaga's Poker Face while sending an e-mail), no USB ports, etc. On the other hand, it's sleek, has a reasonable price, and is powered by the iPhone OS, which allows users to download iPhone apps into the iPad without worrying much about compatibility issues.

The iPad May Be Getting A Camera After All
Posted on February 2, 2010 | No Comments
Just like the iPod Touch, Apple's new iPad doesn't have a camera and this is one of the major drawbacks that made Apple fanboys and fangirls think twice before purchasing the slim and gorgeous tablet.
Apparently, rumors suggesting that the iPad will come with a camera seems to be a reality. Mission Repair received their first shipment of the iPad and found something bizarre. Ryan from the repair company has posted images of what is supposedly the iPad outer frame, and he tried to place a camera from a Unibody Macbook into the empty space to see if it fits well. And it does! Hooray, the iPad may be getting a camera after all!

Apple Makes $208 For Each $499 iPad Sold
Posted on February 2, 2010 | No Comments
Before the iPad was first announced at the Apple event on January 27th, analysts claim that it will come with an introductory price of $1,000. However, to the dismay of many Apple fans, it has an unbelievable retail price of just $499. You may think that Apple will not make much from the sale of the iPad, but Broadpoint AmTech's analyst Brian Marshall proved us wrong. Although the exact specifications of Apple's new iPad have not been revealed, but Marshall puts the estimated cost to produce the 16GB iPad (Wi-Fi version) at $207.50, suggesting a relatively high profit margin on a per device basis for the California-based tech juggernaut. Meanwhile, the 64GB model, which cost $829, will generate profits of $446 per unit when the device becomes available in the market (March 2010). These translate to a 42.9 per cent and 54 per cent gross margin respectively, giving Apple a lot of room to play with the price in the future. The calculations were based on the going rate for component parts, manufacturing cost and built-in warranty repair costs, disregarding costs needed for research and development, software development, marketing, shipping, etc.

JooJoo Pre-Orders Have Gone Up Significantly Since iPad Was Announced
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No Comments
Pre-orders of the $499.99 iPad like tablet, the JooJoo, have went up significantly after Apple's iPad was announced. One of the main reasons for this sudden rise could be that geeks are disappointed by the lack of features offered by the iPad and wanted to give the JooJoo a try instead. Unlike the iPad, the JooJoo comes with a built-in webcam, has Flash support, a larger screen size, and faster loading time. In an interview with SG Entrepreneurs, Chandrasekar Rathakrishnan, CEO of Fusion Garage, was rather "optimistic and confident" about the sale of the JooJoo, despite the ongoing lawsuit filed by TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington. He even indirectly thanked Apple for helping him widen his tablet business.
Let's learn some of the history behind the device. Last year the device would be launched, but with the name "CrunchPad", and under a partner ownership with Fusion Garage and TechCrunch. Two days before the device was to be available for sale, Fusion Garage pulled out. Michael Arrington, the owner of TechCrunch, has filed a lawsuit on Fusion Garage. No other talks about the lawsuit has been mentioned since it was filed. When TechCrunch was still in the partnership, Michael Arrington emphasized it was a device to browse the web. According to the JooJoo website that is the plan.

Apple iPad Tablets VS. Stone [PIC]
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No Comments
On January 27th, Apple released the iPad tablet. It had been a highly anticipated launch, with tech blogs and just about everyone on twitter talking about it weeks before the event was even confirmed. Some were disappointed with the product Apple eventually released, but I won't go into detail.
While the iPad is something which will really get the tablet computer market going, various people have been quick to point out that in fact a much older product is almost exactly as good. That product is: A rock.
Neither the iPad or rock has a camera.
Neither has an OLED screen.

iPad Nano: The iPad That Fits In Your Pocket [PIC]
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No Comments
Impressed by Apple's new sleek gadget but worried about how you are going to carry the iPad, which has a 9.7-inch display and weighs 0.68kg? This is when you ought to purchase this newly-launched iPad Nano from Apple. *Joking!* When the iPad was first launched by Steve Jobs on January 27, it drew mixed responses. Some people think it's a sleek gadget and Apple calls it "Our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price." I must agree that the iPad comes with a reasonable price tag but its features fail to wow most of us. It's simply a giant iPhone that lacks the ability to call and a video camera. Maybe I would wait till the third generation.

iPad UI is on the iPhone and iPod Touch
Posted on January 31, 2010 | No Comments
RedmondPie.com found out how to turn your iPod touch and iPhone into an iPad with a could of applications. It really makes it like the iPad, without the 10 inch screen (obviously). I really like the iPad's UI, so I tried it out myself. This requires you to jailbreak your device.

Adobe Is Mad At iPad’s Lack Of Flash Support
Posted on January 30, 2010 | No Comments
An Adobe employee, named Lee Brimelow, owns an unofficial Flash blog. Brimelow made a pretty creative image showing what the web will be like without Flash support. Adobe didn't like his first post.
The image doesn't show any nudity, but might be offensive to some. Click here if you aren't offended by much. (Contains an adult website, again no nudity)
Adobe told Brimelow they weren't making any strides to go against Apple, and at least take down the adult website image
