"Think before you speak" is the traditional phrase we usually hear about. What you say and how you communicate can make a big difference in how people respond to you. If words coming out from your mouth are negative remarks, the person you're talking to may feel offended. By then. it would be too late to take back your words. That's why we ought to think of the consequences before we say it.

Now, there's a new tagline emerging in the world wide web -- "Google before you tweet". I personally agree with this. How about you? Do you Google before you tweet?

Growth at Twitter seems to have been quietened down. Analysts over at <a href="http://www.rjmetrics.com/"target="_blank">RJMetrics</a> yesterday published a report about the latest data on Twitter's users and engagement, which paints a two-sided picture of the future of the San Francisco-based Internet company.

As of December 2009, the total number of registered user accounts was 75 million. Although that figure may seem to be rather impressive, but in fact the percentage of active Twitter users is quite worrying. In the early days, close to 80 per cent of the Twitter community are active users. However, it has dropped consistently over the past six months, reaching an all-time low of 17 per cent. In other words, only 15 million users publish at least one tweet a month, a far cry from what many bloggers and companies have expected.

The study also noted that 80 per cent of all Twitter users have tweeted fewer than ten times, which translates to a shocking 60 million. The average Twitter user has 27 followers, a huge drop from 110 followers the year before and 190 followers in 2007.

The new suggested user list gives you 20 categories to pick from. Since this is a technology blog, lets go into the technology category.I find people like Kevin Rose, Gina Trapani, Mashable, Daniel Brusilovsky, TechCrunch, and Leo Laporte. Where is TechXav! We have 150,000 followers, more then alot of people in the technology category. We send tweets out about tech EVERY day. So here is what I am getting to. Twitter needs to allow users to suggest people, not the Twitter staff. If it is a suggested user list, let the community chose. Twitter needs to integrate some kind of nomination system, to let the community decide.

Till date, there are over 54 million people all over the world using Twitter publsihing more than <a href="http://popacular.com/gigatweet/"target="_blank">8 billion tweets</a> (the information in the infographic seems a little outdated).

Have you ever wonder how many papers would you need if you were to print Twitter? Well, the folks at <a href="http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk""target="_blank">Creative Cloud</a> have designed a creative and detailed infographic that helps us answer our question. According to information gathered from various sources, they claim that it would require a massive 350 million sheets of paper in order to print the entire Twitter onto it. It's quite exaggerating though but at least it tells us how huge Twitter is.

By now, there aren’t just twitter clients for almost every browser, but there are a billion smartphone twitter clients. Twitter is everywhere, and everyone is on twitter. But here is the first TechCrunch post, by Michael Arrington on the micro-blogging text messaging service 'twttr'! ‘Odeo released a new service today called Twttr, which is a sort of “group send” SMS application. Each person controls their own network of friends. When any of them send a text message to “40404,” all of his or her friends see the message viasms. This launched officially today, and a few select insiders were playing with the service at the Valleyschwag party in San Francisco last night. People are using it to send messages like “Cleaning my apartment” and “Hungry”. "Robin Hood airport is closed," he wrote. "You've got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I'm blowing the airport sky high!!"

Although it was meant to be a joke to amuse his friends, but one of his followers thought otherwise. He or she immediately alerted the police and Chambers was arrested under the Terrorism Act on suspicion of conspiring to create a bomb hoax and taken into police custody where he was questioned for seven hours. Not only did he miss his holiday trip and was interrogated by the officials, Chambers was even suspended from work by his unsympathetic employer and banned from entering Doncaster airport for life.

"I would never have thought, in a thousand years, that any of this would have happened because of a Twitter post," said 26-year-old Chambers. "I'm the most mild-mannered guy you could imagine."
